FAQ - Important Information for Clients
Timeline
(from the inquiry to the delivery of the pictures/ prints): Pre-production When a quote for a photo shoot is provided, the timeline is determined, and a complimentary pre-production consultation is offered. Usually we discuss on the phone / chat or in person some details about the shoot (creative and logistical details, as well as the agreement on the package). For portrait shoots as a client you will take pictures of the outfits to choose from and we define which ones can work best for the shoot as well as what location(s) the photo session will take place at. As a starting point - try to choose clothes without strong patterns (unless that is the idea of the shoot - using some graphic play of forms). Pastel colors work great for casual pictures, 2-3 color schemes work nicely for the couple & family shoots. Matching accessories are welcome for beauty shots. NB: Please keep in mind that the NEWBORN photo sessions are best when hold during the first 2 weeks (for up to 14 days, very latest 20 days). The babies are usually quite sleepy and peaceful so posing and using props is easier. It's a one-of-a-kind age, precious moments for the baby and parents. Photography with parents and siblings are most welcome. Production: In some cases we have to leave some extra free time for the shoot to get the best of the available light. The majority of the outdoor portrait sessions on location are usually scheduled between 4-8pm (depending on the season). If the day is cloudy then it can be done a bit earlier. Early morning sunrise hours can also be great for those who can wake up early and look good :). Props might be used in some set-ups / pictures depending on the idea (concept) and type of the shoot. In many cases the cost of props or any rentals are included in the quote. For the majority of portrait photo shoots 1-3 locations / set-ups are used during the same session (depending on the package). Post Production: Usually 2-3 weeks are required on delivering the photo shoot. Urgent shoots can be possible in some cases with a 30-50% fee. Some pictures are edited by the photographer and others might be edited by retouchers collaborating with the photographer. Note on COPYRIGHT / Disclaimer:
Whether it is an exclusive or non-exclusive agreement, Copyright of the pictures belongs to the Photographer who has the right to use the pictures for portfolio, printed and web publications, as well as for showcasing my work and promoting photographic services. Usually only best pictures get published & exhibited. *** The Photographer provides selected pictures to the Client for personal use (portraits and private events) or commercial use within discussed frames confirmed in a written agreement (business portraits and commercial shoots). *** As a photographer I am not just selling the pictures to clients, but rather offering my TIME & TALENT for collaboration on creating beautiful images. Web versions of the pictures are provided with the photographer's logo. If you require a fully private photo session, it might be possible, however a 50% additional fee will be applied in most cases. Thank you for understanding! |

How exactly the fee is calculated?
Each photo or video shoot requires a separate quote. Each type of photo shoot might be offered for a different amount of money by different photographers because when calculating service fees, photographers have to take into account a lot of factors, including: 1) COST of keeping the photo / video business -- photo-video equipment and accessories, up-to-date office facilities (computer & software expenses, printer, scanner, internet, phone... ), multiple hard drives & back-up HDs, car expenses, space and equipment rentals, education and upgrading, maintenance and insurance, website and social media related costs, promotion, office supplies, lagal services, taxes, memberships and much more... 2) TIME required for doing the assignment (planning and pre-production, production, post-production) 3) EXPENSES related to the particular photo shoot: pre-production, production, post-production - props required, traveling, gas, fees, entry tickets and similar (if applicable) 4) SERVICES of other people (crew - partner & assistant shooters, retouchers and editors, make-up and hair artists, drivers, lawyers, extras and other.) |
Once in a while I do budget/ discounted CREATIVE photo sessions for PORTFOLIO work & EXPERIMENTING.
